ABOUT US
The Sport Pal Story
At Sport Pal, we're revolutionizing athletic performance by harnessing the power of the "magic muscle" - your tongue. Our journey began with a profound realization: the tongue, often overlooked, holds the key to transforming athletic potential. This insight led our founder, Janine Stiene, to develop our patented, custom-fitted performance mouthguard that empowers athletes of all ages to achieve optimal breathing patterns, leading to improved endurance, enhanced recovery, and peak performance.
Janine Stiene (MA, CCC-SLP, TSHH) is the visionary behind Sport Pal. As a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicap, and trained Myofunctional Therapist, Janine brings over 24 years of experience to our mission.
JOURNEY
From Long Island Speech to Sport Pal
Long Island Speech
Since 2004, Janine has been at the forefront of speech and myofunctional therapy in New York. What began as a small privately-owned speech practice has grown into Long Island Speech - the largest privately-owned insurance-based speech pathology practice on the east coast and the largest insurance-based Myofunctional practice nationwide.
Growing Medical Practice
With nine locations across Long Island, our exceptional team of speech pathologists have been helping families overcome speech, feeding, breathing, and auditory processing disorders, combining expertise from various fields: Speech-Language Pathology, Athletic Performance, Myofunctional Therapy, Orthodontics, and Sleep Science.
The Birth of Sport Pal
Through extensive work with athletes, our team identified a crucial gap in performance training. We recognized that breathing patterns often overlooked by trainers and coaches - such as mouth breathing during exercise or improper tongue position - can be indicators of larger performance limitations. This realization led to the creation of Sport Pal.
Our mission
The mission of Sport Pal is a desire to awaken the athletic world to the extraordinary impact of tongue posture on performance and endurance. We're not just a company; we're pioneers of a movement that recognizes proper breathing as a cornerstone of athletic excellence. We invite you to discover the Sport Pal difference and take the first step towards reaching your full athletic potential.
WHO WE ARE
The Sport Pal Founders
